Trinity literary magazine publishes eighth-grader's work

Congratulations to eighth-grader Aleena, whose creative nonfiction essay has been accepted into the inaugural issue of High Noon, a new literary journal from Trinity University.

Aleena's piece, "Open Eyes," was chosen as one of more than 100 submissions from across the country. Submissions were read blind, and she was the youngest person to be included in the online issue.

The publication is specifically geared toward moments of transition or coming of age. Journal advisor Jennifer Bartlett -- an English instructor at Trinity and a Keystone parent -- said Aleena's "piece reflects a mature literary voice, and a courageous look at what it means to understand yourself through illness."

Looking forward to seeing how this young writer matures.
